What it measures
People with foreign citizenship as a percentage of all suspects, computed from the values published by Eurostat. Version published by Eurostat on 29 April 2026.
Methodology
People with foreign citizenship as a percentage of all suspects in the year, computed by Data Super Partes dividing the two values Eurostat publishes for the same year. It needs context: foreign suspects include non-residents and people without a residence permit, and some offences linked to irregular entry and stay concern foreign citizens only; the foreign population is younger than the Italian one. The share of foreigners among residents is in the Foreign residents series of the Immigration topic.

Crises
Conventional whole-year periods chosen by the editors; each period's source documents the event. They apply to every EU country. They show temporal coincidences, not causes.
4 periods with source
- Financial crisis1 Jan 2008 – 31 Dec 2009
- Sovereign debt crisis1 Jan 2011 – 31 Dec 2012
- COVID-19 pandemic1 Jan 2020 – 31 Dec 2021
- Energy crisis1 Jan 2022 – 31 Dec 2022
Governments
Each government covers the period from its swearing-in to the end date given by governo.it. An annual figure is not attributed to a single government: the bands show who was in office during the period, as a temporal coincidence. For public spending, the budget law for year N is passed by the government in office in year N−1.
