What it measures

People convicted by a criminal court in the year, per 100,000 inhabitants. Version published by Eurostat on 2 July 2019, retrieved from a copy kept by the Internet Archive.

Methodology

People convicted by a criminal court in the year, per 100,000 inhabitants. A conviction often comes years after the offence, so the series does not follow the same years as recorded offences. The rules on what counts as a conviction differ by country. Eurostat computes no EU-27 value.
